This program is a special program where you can help a needy family. All families in this program have given permission to have food delivered directly to their home by their adopter.

You may Adopt a Family and provide a holiday meal at Thanksgiving, or provide a holiday meal including gifts in December or both. Each holiday season, over 400 families are adopted through SCO by businesses, organizations, congregations, and individuals in the community.

For over ten years Saddleback Community Outreach has assisted in matching adopters to needy families during the holidays.


Holiday Basket Suggestions for a typical family of four	Other suggestions

Turkey or ham

8 Canned vegetables (including beans)

Dressing

Potatoes, yams

4 Canned fruits

4 Starch items (rice, pasta)

2 Desserts

1 Peanut butter, 1 Jelly

5 Soups

6 Miscellaneous items (spaghetti sauce, juices, crackers, cereal, etc.)

Add a food that is from your family’s traditional holiday meal. Provide a gift certificate to their local market.

This is a great volunteer opportunity for a group. Employees in a department, or your club can join together to make a basket!
