South County Outreach is here to break down the basics: what SNAP is, who it helps, how it works, and why it matters right now.

CalFresh — California’s version of SNAP — is a federal nutrition program that helps low-income households buy groceries each month. This monthly food benefit to helps people buy groceries. It keeps food on our neighbors’ tables — so they can still afford to pay rent, utilities, and other essentials.

It’s one of the most effective tools in fighting hunger and poverty in the U.S., supporting millions of families with children, older adults, and people with disabilities.

With grocery prices still high and possible delays to November 2025 benefits, more neighbors may be struggling to keep food on the table.
